In this course, you’ll dip your toes into motion design, an art form combining graphic design, filmmaking, illustration, animation and storytelling.
You’ve seen it in explainer videos, adverts and Hollywood blockbusters. It’s big, bold and in-demand. Now you can get in on the action by learning the basics and more with us.
We’ll guide you through pre-production processes, including styleframes, animatics and that all important storyboard.
Whether you’re a total novice, or a self-taught dabbler, in three months, you’ll have completed an entire project with 2D and 3D sequences. Imagine that!

Bring your ideas to life
Make a motion design piece you can be proud of in just 3 months. You’ll cover preproduction processes, design inspiring storyboards, animatics and winning pitch decks. You’ll then build on your vision, getting to grips with After Effects and Cinema 4D even if you’re a total beginner, or self-taught creative looking to up skill. By the end of it, you’ll leave with ignited confidence and a complete motion design brief featuring both 2D and 3D shots.

Is this course for me?
If you’re a motion design novice, this is perfect for you.
Or, you dabble with After Effects or Cinema 4D, teaching yourself with YouTube and the like. Motion Design Foundation will benefit you massively too.
You need to be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator). We cover some graphic design principles, but don’t teach it from scratch, so you’ll need some skills in this area.

Learn proper industry etiquette and workflows by responding to a brief. You’ll discover your creative process and the true meaning of end to end delivery by tackling a project from start to finish as you would in the real world.Attend live group mentoring sessions

You don’t have to do this alone. When you enrol, you’ll get to know and network with other like-minded and aspirational professionals in the field. Together you’ll learn, make and succeed by connecting on your own private Slack, before gaining access to the wider alumni community.Part-time around you
This 3 month course is entirely online and asks for about 10-15 hours of your time per week. Whether you freelance, work Monday to Friday or you’re busy with the kids, you can flex this around your schedule. -
What do I get?
In completing this course you will develop the confidence and understanding of delivering a market relevant brief from beginning to end. The work you produce may also add that necessary boost to your portfolio, or even start one off if you’re new to motion design.
So long as you’ve done the minimum number of hours and tasks, you’ll also receive a certificate of participation.

You’ll need the following software:
- Adobe After Effects
- Cinema 4D (free license for 3 months included)
- Adobe InDesign
- Adobe PhotoShop
Any device which comfortably runs these applications is OK by us.
